ARGUABLY the finest water garden in the world opens its doors to the public for just one day on Sunday (June7).
Longstock Water Garden, near Stockbridge, owned by the John Lewis Partnership, will show off over 80 types of water lily in bloom, as well as a host of other aquatic flora and fauna. Afternoon teas will also be available.
The charity opening is in aid of the Barnardo's charity that helps children in need.
Since forming in 1992, The Barnardo's Winchester Helper Group has raised over £170,000 to support a variety of local and national projects.
Based in Southampton, the U-Turn Service provides counselling and training for vulnerable young men and women who are, or risk being, sexually exploited, whilst the Miss-U Service helps young runaways find stability and direction in their lives.
Tickets are priced at £5 per adult, £1 for children (14 years and under) and are available at the gate or by calling Mrs Meriel Walton on 01962 852239 or email merielwalton@yahoo.co.uk
