A CYCLIST from Winchester is tackling a 1,000-km ride through the mountains of Austria on behalf of Christian Aid in June.
Mother-of-three, Jane Hough, 60, has raised more than £20,000 for the charity since her fundraising began in 1994.
Her previous 14 cycle rides have included trips in Britain, France, Spain, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia and Holland. Last summer she rode 1,000km through Slovakia in Eastern Europe.
During her previous rides, Mrs Hough, who is a mental health worker, has normally raised between £1,000 and £2,000 and covered more than 10,000 miles.
She said: “My husband has seen some of the good work that’s done by Christian Aid in poor countries, having visited them, and that’s why I’ve been attracted to the charity.”
Mrs Hough, who lives in Ruffield Close, Weeke, will start in Innsbruck and hopes to complete the event during the first two weeks of June.
