THE only playing field in East Dean is set to be auctioned off with a guide price of £50,000.
Glebe Meadow is going under the hammer at Bernard Marcus, property auctioneers, on May 28.
It is the latest twist in determining the future of the plot of land, which was originally auctioned off for £8,500 by the MoD’s estates department.
As previously reported, the area was leased for use as a playing field between 1969 and 2004.
Villagers were desperate for the 0.6-acre patch to remain as a children’s play area.
But the parish council failed in a bid to secure the land when it originally went up for auction.
