SIR — As the local and European elections draw near, I am struck by one curious situation.
I have so far this year received publicity from Conservative, Labour and Lib Dem candidates and supporters concerning the county council election, but not, so far, anything at all about the European Parliament.
I confess I do not know the name of our current Euro-Parliament representative for Hampshire, or that of any predecessors.
I have not seen any news or progress reports affecting us here concerning Europe.
I’ve not had any flyers so far about Europe, save from UKIP.
One could feel tempted to give credence to a certain complacency on the part of those seeking European re-election.
Judging by a BBC Radio 4 poll reported this morning, where 55 per cent of those questioned would vote against the Labour government, it could prove unwise to leave us in limbo.
William Kendall, The Close, Winchester.
