A POLICE investigation is underway after a pensioner was left with serious injuries in a crash near Romsey.
Emergency crews were called to the A3090 close to the junction with Gardeners Lane amid reports a Hyundai Accent had overturned after colliding with a Seat Leon.
An 82-year-old passenger in the Hyundai suffered chest injuries in the smash on Saturday afternoon and was rushed to Southampton General Hospital. His condition has been described a serious but stable.
The 43-year-old woman driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries while the 76-year-old Seat driver also escaped major injury.
The road was closed for around three hours while the wreckage was cleared.
Police have called for witnesses to the smash, which happened at about 2pm, to contact PC Zonia Thompson at the Totton Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 45 45.
