SIR — Your front page article ‘Traders fight store plan’ (Chronicle, May 7) accurately describes the fears of many Bishop’s Waltham’s traders that for Sainsbury’s to build a store here may kill off our traditional High Street.
It is because these fears are widely shared among the voters and shoppers here that an Action Group has been formed to oppose any planning application.
This village is a living community that supports its independent traders and thrives on the social network provided by their shops.
It is for this reason that the Bishop’s Waltham Action Group has attracted support from a wide range of local citizens. Others who wish to support this cause may visit our Facebook site ‘No Thanks Sainsburys (Bishops Waltham)’ or email bwactiongroup@googlemail.com.
