RESIDENTS have flipped a decision their way after kicking up a stink over plans to site a burger van near their homes.
An application was submitted for a mobile food outlet to be situated at the junction of Highwood Lane and Botley Road in Romsey.
But the street vending bid has been thrown out after residents complained it would lead to late night noise pollution, antisocial behaviour and litter.
Test Valley Borough Council’s licensing department refused the application for sale of food until 11pm from Monday to Thursday and up to 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The area’s Hampshire County Councillor, Roy Perry, who alerted residents to the scheme, said: “I am sure the Licensing Authority was correct to reject this application.
“Local people have told me how much nuisance they suffered from a previous van on this site.
“The application was for the sale of burgers into the early hours of the morning and is totally inappropriate on the edge of a residential area.”
A spokesman from Test Valley Borough Council said the applicant, who they declined to name, still had the right to appeal.
