Winchester civic chiefs have launched their latest public consultation over their blueprint for the next two decades.

Last month the city council agreed that Barton Farm should be favoured for development for around 2,000 homes.

Councillors also supported the idea of a ‘knowledge park’ a place for high-tech research at Bushfield Camp on the southern edge of the city.

Now the council is to ask the public what it thinks of its ‘Preferred Option for the Core Strategy.’ It is the latest stage of the process that will ultimately lead to the adoption of the local development framework.

The consultation starts on Thursday May 14 and will end on Friday July 3.

A series of exhibitions has also been arranged around the district to inform the public about the document. Council officers will be available to answer questions about the Core Strategy or the LDF in general.

They will be: June 6, The Old Goods Shed, Alresford, 10.30am - 4pm; June 8, Meadowside Centre, Whiteley, 3-8pm; June 9, United Church, Jewry Street, Winchester, 4-9pm; June 11, Denmead Community Centre, 10.30am - 4pm; June 11, Jubilee Hall, Bishops Waltham, 6-9pm; June 12, Community Centre, Colden Common, 2-6pm; June 13, Brooks Centre, Winchester, 10am-4pm; June 15, Community Centre, Wickham, 3-8pm; June 16, Tubbs Hall, Kings Worthy, 10.30am-1pm; June 16, Community Centre, Badger Farm, 2.30-5pm; June 20, pedestrian precinct, Waterlooville, 10am-2pm.

The report is available online. Paper copies of the document will also be available and can be inspected or purchased at Winchester City Council, City Offices (price £10 plus p&p).
