GOOD neighbours across Hampshire will be saluted at an awards ceremony in Winchester.

The contest is being organised by Hampshire County Council, and it is looking for nominations.

The authority wants to recognise the work of volunteers and neighbours who go the extra mile to help others.

It could be someone who collects things from the shops, helps with the gardening, or just provides a friendly ear. The awards are also open to volunteers in community groups.

Nominations can be made online at www.hants.gov.uk/bettertime or by e-mailing wellbeing@hants.gov.uk. Alternatively, call 01962 845687 to request a form.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, June 26.

The council will judge the contest along with the Hampshire Voluntary Care Group Advisory Service, Carers Together, the WRVS and Age Concern Hampshire.

Awards will be presented by DIY television personality, Tommy Walsh, in the Great Hall, Winchester, on Tuesday, October 6.
