PRESENT and past council leaders are among those contesting the county council elections next month.
Cllr George Beckett, leader of Winchester City Council, is looking to depose Cllr Jackie Porter from her Itchen Valley seat while former Lib Dem city council leader Shelia Campbell is seeking election in the Meon Valley constituency.
The UK Independence Party is putting candidates forward for all the county council seats in the Winchester district on June 4. Elections to the European Parliament are taking place on the same day.

Bishop’s Waltham: Patricia Hayward (Labour), Jim Kirkpatrick (Green Party), Colin Mason (UKIP), Peter Mason (Lib Dems) and Laurence Ruffell (Conservative).
Itchen Valley: Robin Atkins (Labour), George Beckett (Conservative), Alison Craig (Green Party), Jackie Porter (Lib Dems) and David Samuel (UKIP).
Meon Valley: Sheila Campbell (Lib Dems), John Clark (UKIP), Felicity Hindson (Conservative) and David Picton-Jones (Labour).
Winchester Downlands: Charlotte Bailey (Lib Dems), Christopher Barton-Briddon (UKIP), Marc Cumberlege (Conservative) and Antony De Peyer (Labour).
Winchester Eastgate (current Lib Dem councillor Pamela Peskett is standing down): Brian Collin (Lib Dems), Lawrence Hole (UKIP), Chris Pines (Labour), Rupert Pitt (Green Party) and Ian Tait (Conservative).
Winchester Southern Parishes: Frederick Allgood (Conservative), Clive Coldwell (Labour), Kairen Goves (Lib Dems) and Ian Norgate (UKIP).
Winchester Westgate: Roger Davey (Conservative), Patrick Davies (Labour), Phryn Dickens (Lib Dems) , Douglas Reed (UKIP) and Dave Walker-Nix (Green Party).
