A MAN has been released with no further action following a crash that claimed the life of a much-loved Hampshire teenager.

Hundreds of people packed Romsey Abbey earlier this week to pay tribute to Thomas Bruce-Burgess, who died after the car he was travelling in crashed into a telegraph pole on Jermyns Lane, Ampfield.

His pals wore light blue - Tom's favourite colour - as they gathered to remember the "fun loving" teenager.

It is thought the 18-year-old had been in the wreckage of the Green Vauxhall Astra for some time before he was discovered during the early hours of April 11. He died in hospital six days later.

Another 18-year-old, also from Romsey, was later arrested and questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking.

But he has been released with no further action after police said an investigation indicated that Tom was alone in the vehicle.

Tom, from Green Pound Lane, was described during the funeral service on Thursday as someone who "lived life the way he wanted".

His devastated family spoke of the huge void left in their lives and said their only comfort was in knowing his organs would help save the lives of others.

Officers are now preparing a file for the coroner.
