FIVE of the best firms in the Andover and Romsey area have won recognition.

TV survival expert, Ray Mears, presented the Test Valley Business Awards after giving guests a fascinating account of his lifestyle and his 26 years’ experience of running a small business.

“It’s tough, but if you have a passion, and can think with open-mindedness and determination, then do it and you can help change the world around you,” he told his audience at The Lights, Andover. “This is a time to plant seeds and look for growth opportunities.”

He was introduced by Mark Howard, the co-MD of the Waltet Group of Companies, which sponsored him.

Among the 200 business people and guests were the mayor and mayoress of Test Valley, Brian and Dorothy Page, and chairman of Hampshire County Council, Michael Woodhall. With Ray donating his fee to Marie Curie Cancer Care, a collection among the guests raised another £523.
