THE new Master of the Hospital of St Cross – Rev Canon Michael Harley – will be installed and licensed on Thursday, April 23 at 7.30pm at St Cross Church, Winchester.
The service will be unique not only for its distinguished participants but also because of the rarity of the appointment – it has been written specially for this event and will happen nowhere else in England.
The service will be led by the Rt Rev Trevor Willmott, Bishop of Basingstoke.
The Master will not only be Master of the Hospital of St Cross, but also priest-in-charge of the parish of St Faith and Archdeacon of Winchester.
The hospital is said to be the oldest charity in the country, having been established in the 12th century.
