THE work of a Winchester green group is to feature in a new publication by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
It is called Growing by Degrees and focuses on the issue of growing universities and their impacts on the wider community.
One of the chapters is written by Rupert Cook of Winchester-based firm, Architecture PLB.
The company was the first to join Winchester Action on Climate Change, which launched in 2007.
In his submission, Mr Cook talks about WinACC’s efforts to make the city greener. He also predicts that the University of Winchester will play a greater role in the city in years to come.
Robert Hutchison, who chairs Winacc, said: “As we move more rapidly to a low carbon society the University of Winchester will have an increasingly important role locally in highlighting the opportunities for re-shaping our economy and society.
“Rupert Cook has written a stimulating essay and Growing by Degrees is a lively and well-informed contribution to current debates about the future of universities.”
