BOSSES at retail giant, the Co-op, have confirmed their intention to move into Romsey’s former Woolworth’s store, which closed in December.
Southern Co-operatives has secured the lease for the building in The Hundred and is applying to install a fan air-cooled condenser on the roof.
Phil Ponsonby, the company’s chief operating officer for food retail and services, said: “We are pleased to confirm that we have acquired the lease for the empty property in The Hundred, Romsey, which was formerly occupied by Woolworths.”
A spokesman for the firm said it was too early to provide a time frame for opening.
