A HAMPSHIRE business has been recognised as one of the best rural enterprises in the UK.
Lains Shooting School, together with Mullenscote Gun Dogs, based at Quarley, near Andover, has been named the best traditional business in Southern England in the Countryside Alliance’s annual awards, which are based on nominations put forward by customers and clients.
Owner, Howard Kirby, and members of his team collected their award at a House of Commons reception.
The award citation hailed Lains as “at the forefront in passing on the traditional values, skills and knowledge of shooting to the next generation”.
The business has been running successful community projects such as a Young Guns scheme for teaching young people how to use firearms safely, ladies’ days, activity days and “doggy Asbo” courses ito help owners of older dogs that have behavioural problems.
