POLICE are hunting three men and two women who carjacked a high-class sports car in Winchester early this morning.
They punched the driver in the face and stole his Mercedes E class Kompressor at about 12.30am.
The carjacking happened in Thurmond Crescent near the junction with The Valley, Stanmore.
Two women flagged down the vehicle asking for help. When the 35-year-old male stopped, he was assaulted.
The car was fitted with a tracking device and was later traced to the car park of the Holiday Inn in Farnborough. The three carjackers had left.
A police spokesman said at the moment the involvement of the two women was being linked to the carjacking.
The victim, who police have not named, did not suffer serious injuries. The police have appealed for witnesses, saying there were a number of witnesses in the area at the time.
