Romsey Town Council is 'excited' to launch Romsey’s first A Taste of Christmas Markets this Saturday, December 7.

The Christmas Market will open from 10am until  6pm. People can explore Romsey’s market town for a mix of traditional markets, artisan craft makers, food and drink, antiques and collectables and decorative arts.

Romsey mayor John Parker said: "Our councillors were very keen to support A Taste of Christmas Markets, a great way of bringing some fun and good cheer to the town plus increasing shoppers on the day.

The council says it is 'thrilled' to support the national Small Business Saturday campaign encouraging small businesses to thrive during the Christmas season.

Suzi Shilling, Business, Events and Tourism Officer for Romsey Town Council, said: "We are really excited to be able to support our local business community in developing this event for Small Business Saturday.

"Whilst we are very lucky in having such a vibrant town, it is vital we support our independent traders."

She continued: "This is why partnerships with our local retailers are important, and working with South Central Makers, Romsey Antiques, Romsey Country Market, Moonstones and Romsey Markets all of which have regular events in Romsey throughout the year.

"With such a diverse and exciting mix of traders and entertainment, we hope to encourage new and existing visitors for the day - it’s now just a case of hoping the weather is kind to us!"

There will also be street food, as well as three musical areas situated throughout the town featuring local bands and choirs.

Romsey Plaza's RAODS is also supporting the event. The cast of Oliver will relive last year’s excellent production with performances between midday and 2pm in Dukes Mill and the Market Place. T

To add to the festive fun, there will be a free walk-in Snow Globe based in Dukes Mill at the Moonstone Market.

People are also minded not to miss The Tudor Rose pub in the Cornmarket, which has created a fantastic Santa’s Grotto and all proceeds will to local charity Alfie’s Wish.
