DATA has revealed the exact percentage of Winchester constituents who have signed a national petition to hold another general election immediately.

In the constituency currently represented by Liberal Democrat Danny Chambers MP, 3.9 per cent of the area's 105,000 constituents have signed.

This means a total of 4,502 people living in the constituency would like to see voters go to the polls once more just four months after Labour's crushing victory in July.

Nationwide, the movement has so far gathered 2,577,513 supporters as of the morning of November 26, although PM Keir Starmer has come out to say that there is no prospect of a new election.

He added: "I’m not surprised, quite frankly, that as we’re doing the tough stuff there are plenty of people who say 'well I’m impacted, I don’t like it'.

"But we’ve got to make the big calls on the NHS and on schools that are really important for the here and now and for the future."

Despite the prime minister's stance, parliament will debate the petition as it does for each petition which garners more than 100,000 votes.

The petition was created by the "owner of Britain's cheapest pub", Michael Westwood, who has claimed people feel "betrayed" by Labour.

“I would like there to be another general election,” the petition reads.

“I believe the current Labour government have gone back on the promises they laid out in the lead-up to the last election.”

Much of the traction gained by the petition is due to social media, with celebrities such as Michael Caine and Jeremy Clarkson endorsing the movement on Twitter.

Some Twitter users have been urging people from all over the world to sign the petition and provided a list of postcodes so they could pretend they were UK voters – a stipulation of being able to sign the petition.
