A charity will host a cake sale to raise funds for a Christmas party.

Home-Start Winchester will be selling a variety of cakes, including mince pies, lemon drizzle and gingerbread, on Saturday, December 7.

The stall will be set up in St Maurice's Covert, opposite M&S, on the High Street, and will be open from 10am until all the cakes are sold.

"We can’t thank our home bakers enough for giving so generously and to the volunteers who will be manning the stall, as it’s probably the coldest spot in Winchester, so you’ll find us wrapped up in woolly hats, scarves and thermal layers to keep warm."

The money raised from the cake sale will go towards the charity's Christmas party and ensuring that every child has a gift under the tree.

Chrissie added: "Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for families who are struggling to cope and the funds we raise will go towards this year’s Christmas party and to making sure that every child has gifts under the tree."
