A MAN has been slapped with a community order after he pleaded guilty to assault in Alresford.

Billy Pitman, 27, of Abersoch, Pwllheli, assaulted Olivia-Caitlin Stammers by beating her in the town on November 27 last year, a court heard.

Magistrates were told that, on the same day, Pitman, formerly of Ovington Park Lane, caused £544.80 worth of damage to a window of the Horse and Groom Pub in Broad Street, used threatening words or behaviour towards Olivia Murphy and resisted arrest by a PC Bendall.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, Pitman pleaded guilty to damaging the window and not guilty to the other three offences. He later changed his plea to guilty on October 1.

On November 19, magistrates at Basingstoke hit him with a community order. He must comply with any instructions of the responsible officer to attend appointments or to participate in any activity as required by the responsible officer up to a maximum of 30 days.

Pitman must also pay £600 compensation and has been fined £600. He must also pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs. The total amount of £1,399 will be paid in monthly instalments of £117 starting on January 31.
