LOCAL democracy seems to have taken a hit.

Developers are putting in speculative planning applications that are not in the local area plan and are in the countryside. Safe in the knowledge that if their application gets refused by the council then it goes on to the Planning Inspectorate. This body will have little knowledge of the locality and will be working towards the new government's guidelines on increasing building supply.

Surely this is bad for democracy and undermines our planning officers, councillors and all those who voted for them?
