TEAMS from across the south are gearing up for one of the south's largest frisbee tournaments.
One of England's oldest Frisbee clubs - Braishfield Ultimate - will be hosting its annual Frisbee Tournament on Sunday, December 8.
Regional, local, and university teams from Chichester, Woking, Southampton, Solent, and other areas will participate.
Current club member Peter Feeney described the tournament as a “fun” and “social event” which encourages communication and collaboration.
Ultimate Frisbee is a fast-paced, non-contact team sport played with a frisbee. It has seven players on either side and is all about scoring points by catching the disc in the opposing team's end zone.
The club, Braishfield Ultimate, welcomes players of all abilities, from beginners to seasoned pros.
Peter said: “This tournament is really about celebrating how much the frisbee community has grown in Hampshire. We’re seeing more and more people of all ages and experience levels getting involved, and it's exciting to bring so many teams together for a fun, festive day.”
The club plays every Sunday and has players ranging from 16 to 68. Although Braishfield has become increasingly more involved in the tournament scene, it has stayed true to its roots by promising to offer a distinct focus on “having fun, game time, inclusivity, fitness and development.”
It also offers a pint after the game, so post-match cooldowns are never a problem.

Peter said that socialising in Ultimate Frisbee can benefit players. He said: “We believe that a strong social bond enhances our on-field performance and makes every game more enjoyable.”
New members can participate in three free sessions before paying for a club membership.
Membership to the club comes with a range of benefits, including access to exclusive merch, your own kit number and the opportunity to represent the club at tournaments.
Membership costs £10. The club’s matches occur at Braishfield Recreation Ground before moving to Embley Park School during the winter.
