A WINCHESTER man has been banned from the road for driving after drinking.

Richard Aron, 61, of Wentworth Grange, drove near his home after having been drinking on Friday, October 18, a court heard.

Aron underwent a breath test where he returned a result of 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, twice the legal limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, November 5, Aron pleaded guilty to the charge.

He has been banned from driving for 18 months. This can be reduced by 18 weeks if he completes a course by October 29 next year.

Aron has also been fined £415, and must pay a £166 victim surcharge and £85 costs. The total amount of £666 must be paid in full by December 12.
