Romsey is set to come alive this festive season with a lineup of magical events and markets that promise to spread Christmas cheer throughout the community.
From enchanting parades to bustling markets, the town’s holiday celebrations will bring joy to locals and visitors alike.
The festivities began on Saturday, November 16 with the return of its Winter Carnival and Lantern Parade.
It will then see its lights switch on take place on Saturday, November 23, from 5pm to 8pm.
The Romsey Lights Switch-On will take centre stage with the lights officially illuminated at 6pm, followed by live music from Beggars Fair, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. This event promises to be a night of music, laughter, and festive spirit.
Romsey will then host "A Taste of Christmas Market" on Saturday, December 7, from 10am to 6pm, bringing together all of Romsey's markets in a single festive extravaganza. From handcrafted goods to seasonal treats, there will be something for everyone to enjoy in the heart of Romsey Town Centre.
On Friday, December 13, at 5pm, don’t miss the "Saving Santa" event in the Market Place, which promises to add a touch of adventure and holiday fun. Then, on Monday, December 23, at 7pm, gather with the community for carol singing in the Market Place—a beautiful way to embrace the Christmas spirit.
Throughout December, Romsey’s regular markets will be transformed into festive hubs. The Market Place and Cornmarket will be open on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8am to 3pm. Special highlights include:
- Romsey Country Market and Community Café: Held at Romsey Town Hall on December 6, 13, and 20 from 11.30am to 12.30pm.
- Hampshire Farmers Christmas Market: Located at Alma Road Car Park on December 1 and 22, open from 10am to 2pm.
- Romsey Makers Market: A showcase of local crafts and creations on December 15 from 10am to 3pm at the Market Place and Cornmarket.
With its blend of music, markets, and community spirit, Romsey’s Christmas celebrations promise to be a highlight of the holiday season.
