A BUDGET supermarket will welcome back customers after having made a series of "upgrades" to its Winchester store.
The Aldi store on Burnett Close in Weeke, Winchester, will re-open to customers on Thursday, November 14, following a week-long refurbishment.
The German supermarket giant says the upgrades will make for an all-round better shopping experience and a more sustainable store.
Changes include increased chiller space, complete with new fridge doors to reduce energy consumption, as well as additional room for Specialbuys and re-designed health and beauty and bakery sections for a modernised look.

The store employs 33 workers, and during re-opening week will be offering a range of toys, including Squishees for £19.99, Baby Einstein musical instruments for £14.99 and art easels for £9.99.
Store manager James Patterson said: “The store is looking fantastic, and we are really looking forward to welcoming back some familiar faces as well as new customers and supplying our local community with the everyday amazing products we have available.”
In addition, as previously reported, Aldi may open another store in Winchester as it seeks to invest £1.4 billion in the South-East over the next year or so.
Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: “We want to make our great value groceries accessible to all, and to do that we need more stores, particularly in towns and areas that don’t have an Aldi already.
“The areas we’ve identified in our latest list are places where there is demand for stores and we are committed to continue investing until we can bring our quality products and unbeatable prices to as many people as possible.”
In other news, Aldi has launched a kids' painting competition to encourage people to recycle.

The competition is part of the supermarket's efforts to encourage sustainable shopping behaviours, which also includes reducing single-use plastic and increasing recycled content in packaging.
The initiative also aligns with Aldi, Team GB, and ParalympicsGB’s Get Set to Eat Fresh programme, aimed at inspiring young people aged five–14 years to develop an interest in healthy, sustainable food.
The competition is open during Recycle Week from October 14–20.
