On October 26, West Saxons celebrated King Alfred's Day by flying Wessex flags and so forth.
Immediately afterwards we went through the ridiculous ritual of putting our clocks back by an hour, thereby losing an hour of evening daylight. It is all for the Scots and the North. It does not do anything for us.
I propose that the Saxon lands, Wessex and Essex, retain BST all year round.
