A French cultural group has reported a surge in new members thanks to a newspaper rallying call.
One year ago, the Hampshire Chronicle reached out to local Francophiles, calling for support to keep Le Cercle Français de Winchester alive.
The community's response has been remarkable, with the group now full of fresh energy and new faces.
The strong connection between France and England, highlighted in the past year, is reflected in the group's growth.
The season commenced with a wine-tasting event led by Cécile Bergart, fostering a shared enthusiasm for French culture among long-time members and newcomers.
Looking ahead, the group has planned several events.
On November 14, they will delve into the picturesque region of Les Cévennes.
This will be followed by a Christmas party on December 17.
These gatherings offer learning opportunities, great conversations, and a chance to mingle in a relaxed atmosphere.
The group welcomes everyone with an interest in French language, food, art, and culture.
