A NEW fine dining experience has arrived at a luxury Hampshire hotel under its new chef.
New Place Hotel in Shedfield has rebranded its restaurant and called it Harley’s, as well as launching a new menu, under the direction of food and beverage manager, Nick Brewster, and his executive chef, Simon Hartnett.
They say they also want to welcome locals, saying the restaurant is not just for hotel guests.
Nick said: “We hope to bring local people a truly unmatched fine dining experience – without leaving them hungry.
“One of the ways we are doing this is by having our beef wellington carved up on a tray at the table – bring a bit of flare to people’s meal.
“You don’t need to be a food critic to enjoy the fantastic dishes we have on offer.”
The New Place Hotel is a country manor house steeped in history – the restaurant has been named after a former owner, Patrick Harley, who turned the house into a boarding school in the 1950s.
Also on offer at Harley’s is a range of vegan options, such as the roasted pumpkin, and its very own prosecco, The New Place Prosecco.
Some of the dishes on offer include: pork belly and scallop, roast vegetable wellington and crab arancini.
Executive chef Simon, who was previously the executive chef at The Queens Hotel’s Restaurant 1865 in Southsea and who has previous experience at the AA Rosette winning The Old Drum pub in Petersfield, added: “For me, I think everyone should have a chance to try the beef wellington, cut and served by waiting staff at the table.
“It’s got a real wow factor and gives local people a fine dining experience that we feel has been lost in modern times.”
The new restaurant is also offering a twist to all of its deserts by serving its fresh honey which is made at the hotel grounds.
Nick continued: “We have a number of our own beehives which provide us with fresh, sweet and delicious honey to be served with our desserts.
“Our waiting staff drizzle the honey over the deserts at the table and we explain a little about the making process of the honey while it is being served.”
Harley’s dessert menu includes: rum roasted pineapple, banana bread madeleine and the Hampshire cheeseboard, which can even be enjoyed with a range of dessert wines to choose from.
