A hotel has installed 12 metal roses on its grounds to raise awareness for a local hospice caring for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions.

Norton Park Hotel, Spa and Manor House, in Sutton Scotney, has teamed up with Naomi House & Jacksplace for the 'Garden of Roses' initiative.

The roses, handcrafted by blacksmith Lucille Scott, are part of an effort to help the hospice fund the care it provides for people across the south of England.

Norton Park Hotel has been partnering with the charity since March, raising more than £7,500 for the hospice in a 'Night at the Races' event earlier in the year.

The roses, installed on the hotel grounds, aim to provide a reflective space for guests while raising awareness about the charity's cause.

Ella Clayton, from Naomi House & Jacksplace, said: "We are delighted to have the support of the team at Norton Park Hotel, Spa and Manor House so that we can continue to provide expert care and services to local families in the local community.

"It is a corporate partnership to be proud of and they have helped us to raise significant funds already with more exciting plans ahead. Thank you to Paul and the team."

Norton Park Hotel's general manager Paul Russell said: "We’re proud to continue our support for Naomi House and Jacksplace through the Garden of Roses initiative.

"Hosting this display reflects our commitment to the local community and provides a space for visitors to recognise the important work of these hospices."

The metallic rose installation is significant to Naomi House & Jacksplace, with the hospice having had a long-standing tradition of presenting 12 roses each year on Midsummer's Day to honour the late Mary Cornelius-Reid.

Mary Cornelius-Reid was the owner of the Sutton Manor Estate land on which the hospice was built.

She permitted the construction of the hospice on the property on the condition it was named after her daughter and a dozen red roses were presented annually as a symbolic rent.

Naomi House & Jacksplace provide essential care for children, young adults, and their families across the south of England.

Naomi House, established in 1997, offers specialist care for children with life-limiting conditions, while Jacksplace is the region’s only hospice devoted to young adults.

The charity offers 24-hour nursing care and an array of social events and activities.

Norton Park Hotel, Spa & Manor House is located just outside Winchester, set within 54 acres of Hampshire countryside.
