ANOTHER mention of a major road closure affecting the Worthies. The road between Kings Worthy and Winchester is set to close due to gas repairs. The work is being carried out by SGN, and is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, November 13 to Wednesday, December 4. These works will involve the replacement of old metal gas pipes on London Road, which connects Winchester and the Worthies, with new plastic pipes so SGN can continue to supply gas to residents. Access to Pudding Lane will be maintained on both sides of the closure – however, it will not be suitable for diverted traffic. The diversion will take traffic onto the A34, A272 and A31 around the eastern edge of Winchester and through the city centre. Bin collection dates are expected to remain unchanged, although bus routes will be impacted, with SGN advising residents to contact their service provider for updates regarding changes to bus routes and times.
