A group in Romsey is making trench candles for Ukrainian soldiers.

The Romsey Ukrainian Support Group is repurposing old food tins to provide heat and light for the soldiers.

Roland Matthews from the group said: "These reconstituted candles are a valued and much-needed resource for soldiers in the trenches as they can be used for heating, lighting and for re-heating food."

The candle-making workshop is on Sunday, November 3 at Woodley Scout Hut from 1pm to 4pm.

All are welcome, but organisers are seeking clean, empty food tins and leftover candles (not scented ones) to aid the initiative.

Materials and assembly instructions will be provided.
