THE "regeneration" of central Winchester is about to take another important step towards becoming a reality.

The plans for the Silver Hill redevelopment, overseen by Jigsaw, were presented to city councillors at a cabinet committee on October 15.

Jigsaw representative Matt Woolgar told cabinet members the DDP (development delivery plan) for the project is coming into its final stages, with council leader Martin Tod describing the next steps in the process as a "very important stage we are about to go through".

An AI rendition of what the Silver Hill redevelopment might look like (Image: AI) Over the past months, Jigsaw has held various events to engage with the public and stakeholders, including their "co-creation workshops" in May.

This is in keeping with the conception of the project as a "restorative, climate-conscious, low carbon and heritage sensitive regeneration process".

Cllr Tod described the update as “very interesting and inspiring”, adding that the project is "into the last straight of the DDP".
