The Mayor of Winchester raised funds for his four charities during an evening of sea shanties.

The event, held at Colden Common Community Centre, featured performances from the Southampton Salty Dogs and a speech from a retired Rear Admiral of the Royal Navy.

The evening saw the involvement of Winchester Sea Cadets, who piped the event and hoisted up Nelson's message in flags.

The gathering raised funds for Winchester Sea Cadets, Winchester Radio, Hampshire History Trust, and St John's Winchester.

A spokesperson for the event said: "A huge amount of effort goes into these events and it’s all thanks to very dedicated people from those charities, and the mayor and his office."

The mayor collaborates closely with his charities to organise events and fundraising ideas during his mayoral term.
