A Winchester train station is in the running to be crowned the "station with the best local businesses".

Shawford Station has been chosen to represent Hampshire in the Rail Delivery Group's World Cup of Stations 2024.

The competition, which runs from October 14 to 18, highlights the significance of railways in supporting communities, businesses, and the economy.

Out of 48 stations competing, Shawford Station has been selected for the bonus round, with voting open from October 16 at 8am to midnight.

The station has been acknowledged for its community engagement and support.
