I am writing to express my deep dismay at the idea of the proposed closure of Winchester Bus Station (Chronicle, Letters, October 10).
It may be dirty, overgrown with weeds, offering very little shelter against bad weather, but the thought of its closure has shocked me.
Other places, Andover for instance, have well maintained bus stations, clean and fit for purpose, whereas the residents of Winchester have put up with second best for so many years it has become a case of 'better the devil you know'.
I stupidly thought that if we waited a bit longer we would be rewarded with something better but did not expect it to be nothing.
