SOUTH Wonston Dog Training Club is now taking bookings for puppy courses starting October 23.  These small friendly classes are held at the Pavilion in South Wonston. Wednesdays at 6.30pm. DEVER Art Group will be holding an exhibition at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, from Saturday, October 12 (from 10am to 5pm) to Sunday, October 13 (From 10am to 4pm). Everyone is welcome to come along. Refreshments will be available.

THE Gratton Trust is looking for new volunteers to help run the annual Grattonbury Music Festival. The event has been a highlight in the calendar for Sutton Scotney for many years and is under threat due to falling funds and a lower-than-normal amount of volunteers.

The trust would therefore like to invite local residents who might be interested in organising and running Grattonbury to get in touch. Volunteers would need to commit to attending monthly planning meetings, as well as the event itself and a meeting the morning after the festival. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to email grattontrustchair@gmail.com.

SOUTH Wonston Stores has announced a new opening time. The shop, in Down Road, will be open from 7.30am to 8.30pm Monday to Sunday.

THE Gratton Trust will be holding its annual Halloween event for children this year. It will take place at The Gratton on Sunday, October 27 from 6pm until 8pm, with a range of activities including fancy dress, pumpkin carving, games, tombola and a raffle. Hot food and drinks will be available.

TEA for a cause, in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support and the Winchester Hospice will be at the Northbrook Hall, Micheldever, on Saturday, November 23. The event will run from 2pm until 5pm.

The event is organised by Louise Kayes and Ollie Bramley. Donations of cakes and raffle prizes for the event will be gratefully received.

THE Half Moon and Spread Eagle, in Micheldever, will be holding a bingo night on October 23. The night will start at 7pm, with a range of prizes to be run. Contact the Half Moon and Spread Eagle for more information.

A FREE workshop detailing cyber fraud will be held at East Stratton Village Hall on Monday, November 25 at 7.30pm. The workshop is being held by Hampshire Police and will cover a number of different aspects of both online and offline scams, including protecting and securing your email accounts, social media and talking through methods the criminals can use to target us all, even without using our devices.

THE next Sutton Scotney Community Café will be at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, from 9.30am–12 noon on Wednesday, October 16.  This month will be the cafés usual October fundraiser for Blood Cancer UK, in memory of Glynn, the late husband of one of the volunteers Barbara.

All the cakes are homemade, there is real coffee and plenty of free parking.  As well having a gluten free cake option every month, the café also has homemade biscotti and a savoury offering.  All the cakes are available to eat-in or takeaway and the café is cash only.
