The Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers are set to perform in Winchester as part of their 30th anniversary tour.
The UK’s 'longest-standing taiko drumming group' will perform at Theatre Royal Winchester, marking their first major UK tour in five years.
The show promises to 'take the audience on a journey' through three decades of performance, featuring rhythms, soundscapes and choreography, demonstrating the group’s skill.
Established in 1994, Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers have performed over 1,000 times worldwide, including in Japan and Europe.
They have appeared at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, Brighton Theatre Royal, various music festivals, and on television, including The Brit Awards and the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms.
The group has also collaborated with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, featured in the BBC’s opening sequences for their coverage of the Tokyo Olympics, and completed a 26-date run at the Adelaide Fringe.
They also run regular workshops at their base in Lanarkshire, teaching others the art of taiko drumming.
The Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers' 30th Anniversary Tour will take place at Theatre Royal Winchester on Wednesday, October 23, at 7pm.
