A new play inspired by Jane Austen's youth will have its world premiere in Hampshire.
Titled Marina, the play will be presented as a rehearsed reading at The Yard Hampshire, in Alresford, on Saturday, October 26, at 8pm.
The play is penned by award-winning playwright Elizabeth Lewis, known for her extensive work for BBC Radio 4 and various theatres.
The inspiration for Marina came from two intriguing paragraphs discovered by Lewis, written by Jane Austen during her teenage years.

These paragraphs have been described as "playful, fantastical and somewhat crazy," contrasting with the traditional style of Austen's well-known novels.
Lewis was delighted upon finding these writings and decided to imagine the rest of the story, creating a full script from the brief original text.
The performance will be complemented by music composed by Peter Gritton.
The evening will conclude with an opportunity for the audience to ask questions, offering a chance to delve deeper into the creative process and the unique inspiration behind the play.
The play promises a unique insight into Austen's early creativity, as well as a fresh perspective from a modern playwright.
Tickets for the event are available on The Yard Hampshire's website.
