A HAMPSHIRE podiatrist is the only clinic of its kind in the county to have an anti-gravity treadmill.
The machine, created by AlterG, is usually used by athletes, but in this case has been deployed by NK Active, a clinic on Old Salisbury Lane near Romsey.
Director Nick Knight said: "It is [...] an antigravity treadmill developed by NASA. It has the ability to take up to 80% of your body weight off in 1% increments to simulate the same gravitational levels as on the moon.
"It is a really good bit of equipment to help people recover from injuries, surgery, neurological conditions like strokes and much more."

On its website, AlterG states: "[Our] technology combines precision unweighting technology with real-time gait analytics and video feedback. No other unweighting technology offers as much precision, accuracy and comfort than AlterG."
It describes one of its products (pictured above) as follows: "The ultimate performance series, the AlterG PRO Anti-Gravity Treadmill offers athletes the most robust solution in unweighted recovery and performance training.
"With NASA-Inspired technology, the PRO uses patented Differential Air Pressure (DAP) to precisely reduce gravitational forces on athletes by as much as 80% on a top of the line slat-belt treadmill, enabling earlier rehabilitation or increased training volume for peak performance with less risk of injury."
