A BURGLAR has been ordered to pay a four-figure sum of compensation after a thieving spree in Romsey.
James Wood, 33, of Rivermead Close, Romsey, admitted three offences when he appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Thursday October 3.
Serena Edwards, prosecuting, said on May 27 Wood tried to steal a car tyre belonging to Mark Stokes in Bridge Road, Romsey.

On May 28 he stole groceries worth £7 from the Co-op on Winchester Hill in Romsey.
On May 25 Wood entered a garage in The Harrage and stole power tools valued at £1,644.
Basingstoke Magistrates Court ordered Wood pay £1,644 compensation.
There were no other penalties. The court record also stated: "Court departs from sentencing guidelines. Defendant already sentenced for other offences committed at similar time. Originally hoped these matters would be taken in to consideration."
