Thank you Mr Peter Lamb for raising the most important facts regarding Sir John Moore Barracks again (Chronicle, Letters, September 26).

I hope social media has also taken notice.

Here is a great opportunity for Winchester to lead the way and show the Government via our new MP, planners and councils what could be done without wastage to protect the local public purse. Use all these ready-made amenities and services that are in place on this site!

It would be better used for NHS needs or even a new council village, maybe for a mixture of army veterans and local people of all ages,  living or working in the area.

Come on Winchester, where's your get up and go?

Have your say and vote to protect our city from losing its individuality and green spaces. I'm sure the Three Maids would be pleased to cast their spell to help the authorities see sense over this area and road.

Just an extra soapbox thought: If the charging facilities at Three Maids Hill can have facilities, why not also at our bus station? A coffee cart perhaps, maybe even the toilets could be reopened for waiting passengers.
