THE Sutton Scotney Community Café has raised £410 to buy an autism-support dog for Stefan Lowndes.

Taking place at the Victoria Hall on Wednesday, September 18, the café had several visitors, including Stefan’s granny, Irene Lowndes, who came to the café and gave lots of information about the progress of the family’s campaign to get an assistance dog, and the help that it will provide.  Stefan has already been matched with a dog, with the café volunteers hoping that the two of them will be able to visit the café next year.

Alongside the usual offerings of tea, coffee and cake, the café served some savoury offerings of cheese scones, and a new recipe of courgette and chorizo cake, which may well become a regular feature.

The next Sutton Scotney Community Café will be at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, from 9.30am–12 noon on Wednesday, October 16.  This month will be the cafés usual October fundraiser for Blood Cancer UK, in memory of Glynn, the late husband of one of the volunteers Barbara.

All the cakes are homemade, there is real coffee and plenty of free parking.  As well having a gluten free cake option every month, the café also has homemade biscotti and a savoury offering.  All the cakes are available to eat-in or takeaway and the café is cash only.

ONE final reminder that the Micheldever Safari Supper is taking place on Saturday, October 5.

Each course will be hosted in a different house, with a different group of guests. This year, in a change to the format, there will be the opportunity for everyone to meet up over welcome drinks at the start of the evening, rather than coffee/tea at the end.

The cost will be £25 per person for those hosting a course at their home. If you’d like to take part, but can’t host a course, the cost will be £30 per person. This year, the event is in aid of St Mary’s Church Fabric Fund.

DEVER Art Group will be holding an exhibition at the Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney, from Saturday, October 12 (from 10am to 5pm) to Sunday, October 13 (From 10am to 4pm). Everyone is welcome to come along. Refreshments will be available.
