A CITY councillor’s application to add an extension to his house has been approved by civic chiefs.

Cllr Adrian Brophy, ward councillor for Badger Farm and Oliver’s Battery, applied to Winchester City Council for permission to build a single-storey rear extension at his property in Oliver’s Battery Road North.

The application also covered new raised hard landscaping, including a raised patio.

The plans received one objection, with Felipe Sole, also of Oliver’s Battery Road, raising concerns that the raised patio could create privacy and security risks.

He also said that the extension includes a window that would face his property and cause issues with overlooking.

Winchester City Council’s planning committee approved the application on Wednesday, September 27, with all members voting in favour.

All applications by serving councillors automatically go to the planning committee for public transparency.
