This comes just a few days after the Met Office issued an amber weather warning for rain.

Drivers have been warned to expect spray and flooding, which could cause driving conditions and some road closures.

The Met Office forecast reads: "Cloudy throughout on Thursday, with outbreaks of rain at times, perhaps becoming persistent and heavy later in the day, although this is low confidence. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

"Friday sees a change to a brisk northerly wind, with isolated showers and sunny spells. Drier over the weekend with lighter winds, but an isolated shower is still possible."
