A popular village market is celebrating its 25th year, beginning with its next event in October.

Ampfield Market, founded in 2000, will be marking the milestone on Saturday, October 5.

The market, held at Ampfield Village Hall, is open from 10am to 12 noon.

It has become a popular meeting place, known for offering a variety of locally sourced items and refreshments.

The market features a diverse range of stalls selling cakes, biscuits, savoury foods, honey, fresh bread, eggs, plants, fruit and vegetables, crafts, books, cards, jewellery, and collectables.

All of the fruit and vegetables are sourced from local supplier Hansards, and Matt's Bakery in Chandler's Ford provides the bread each month.

The market is held on the first Saturday of each month, except for January and August, which are considered holiday months.

It generates around £3,000 a year towards the village hall funds.

The market also offers a selection of seasonal cakes, prepared by the market team, which are served with coffee throughout the morning.

Looking ahead, the market has announced more dates for the diary, including November 2, December 7, and February 1, 2025.
