As Keir Starmer finds himself in the spotlight for accepting freebies, I couldn’t help but notice that our own Conservative MP Caroline Nokes has made it onto that same list and is in the top 10 MPs for accepting gifts.

It must be nice to attend fetes, shows, and events week after week. For someone who has repeatedly said that she was going to change her party from within, becoming politically impartial as a deputy speaker is an odd way of going about that.

What most of us really want is an MP who dedicates themselves to their constituents to make our lives better, not their own. It’s high time that MPs step away from the freebies and start to serve us.
