A DRUG driver caught on a main road near Winchester has been disqualified from the roads.

Tapiwa Machiha had initially denied charges but changed his pleas on the day of the trial at Aldershot Magistrates Court.

Machiha, 30, of Lymington Road, Highcliffe, Dorset, was stopped by police on the A34 near Sutton Scotney on December 7 last year, a court heard.

He was charged with driving with no insurance, otherwise than in accordance with a licence and whilst unfit through drugs. No further drugs details were given on the court record.

Magistrates banned him from driving for 12 months, fined him £162, with a £65 victim surcharge and £300 costs.
