A CHRONIC alcoholic shoplifter must tackle his drink problem, a court ordered.
Saul Green, 33, of Hyde Gate, Hyde, pleaded guilty to five counts of shoplifting, twice from Tesco and Kingsgate Wines in Kingsgate Street and once from Aldi in June and July, a court heard.
He stole white or rose wine from Tesco and Kingsgate Wines and a £10 leg of lamb from Aldi, said Serena Edwards, prosecuting.
Magistrates in Basingstoke imposed a 12-month alcohol treatment order.
Green was also ordered to pay compensation of £32.95 to Kingsgate Wines, £25 to Tesco and £10 to Aldi.
