A family fun day was recently held at Woodley Village Hall, Romsey.

The event, organised by Unity, was made possible by a £1,000 community grant from the Cupernham ward councillors.

The fun day, aimed at providing local families with a free and enjoyable morning, was packed with activities for all ages.

These included arts and crafts, seed planting, and pottery sessions.

Each family was also given the opportunity to choose an affordable recipe to cook together, promoting home-cooked meals and healthy eating.

This initiative allowed children to select items to take home, restocking cupboards after the summer holidays.

The Travelling Pantry also served as an educational experience, encouraging children to try new foods.

Valley Leisure supported the event by providing sporting activities. It offered families free swimming sessions and soft play days.

Cllr Janet Burnage expressed her delight at the success of the event: "It was a pleasure to support Unity in this initiative.

"It was wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm, particularly when planting seeds—like cress, which grows quickly so they won’t have to wait long to see the results.

"The event also provided families with meal packs, demonstrating how easy it is to prepare nutritious meals from scratch at home."

The family fun day was part of Unity's ongoing efforts to support the community during challenging times.

The event was funded by the Councillors Community Grant Scheme and the Romsey Town Council Fund.
